Our Story

Thank you for taking the time to get to know who we are. My name is Matthew Ralls I am the owner of DSO. I grew up in Mississippi in a single parent household, just outside the small town of Florence. Out here, the outdoors was everything. Riding four wheelers, hunting, fishing, and raising a little hell with friends that was our escape. That was home. My mom worked two jobs, busting her back to provide for me and my two brothers. Watching that growing up, I knew something had to give. I knew she’d never get the chance to slow down unless I built something more. I’ve always felt at peace in the outdoors, and I wanted to turn that into something bigger something that could give back to the same community we were raised in, and the land that shaped us. That’s where Down South Outdoors was born. We create high quality gear for the working class, because we believe you shouldn’t have to break the bank to look good and wear something that represents who you are. Through it all, we never forgot where we came from. That’s why a portion of everything we make goes back through the H.O.P.E. Foundation (H)elping (O)ur (P)eople & (E)nvironment supporting families in need, local communities, and protecting the land and wildlife that raised us.
